Jesus has been displaying God to the world, but now that He is about to leave, He prays that God will continue to be revealed. Jesus prays for the revelation of God's glory by His life, death and delivery of eternal life, by the power of God's name, and by unity amongst his followers.

Jon shows theology is not dry by studying John 10:22-42, where juicy theology flows from every bite of Scripture. In one short section we find Jesus teaching the choice truths of predestination, the Trinity, the inerrancy of Scripture, and the incarnation – and each truth has an experiential bite.

Jon explains that when Jesus declares himself the Light of the World, he has in mind two different functions. His light can either be a bathing light that comforts and informs, or it can be a blinding light that actually impairs whatever vision we have. But as Jesus is put on trial in absentia, we find that these two alternatives are user-driven – your reaction to Jesus determines what type of light you encounter.

Your traits betray your heritage – that’s the principle behind Jesus’ conversation in John 8:31-47. The religious claim God as their father, but their treatment of Jesus suggests a more devilish parentage. Jon explains that for those who trust him comes the understanding that he knows God personally as his Father – and they can too.

Barry discusses the account of the woman caught in adultery brought before Jesus when He says "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." (NIV). Sexual sin is taken seriously by Jesus, however, He loves her, and offers her the chance of redemption. We cannot condemn people for their sin, nor should we be blind to the fact of our own sin, but should humbly reach out to people in love.

Jesus says of Himself "I am the Light of the World" and Phil discusses this claim, illuminating some of the ideas that the phrase carries - light is representative of life, righteousness, truth, knowledge and salvation. Jesus has been sent by the Father and promises that those who follow Him will never be in darkness and the work of those who follow Him is to bring His light to the world.

Barry speaks on these verses which discuss the experiential side of becoming a Christian through the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit gives the assurance of God's love and of salvation, takes away the fear of death, gives power to witness to Jesus and will flow out and bring blessing to others. Anyone who comes to Jesus and receives him as the Son of God and submits to him will receive the Holy Spirit and have their sins forgiven.

Phil Britton discusses Jesus' healing of the son of an official while the child is in another town and considers the role of signs and miracles in coming to believe. John uses this story to highlight who Jesus is by telling of this miracle, but shows that faith in Jesus is knowing of a desperate need for Him and taking Him at His word that He will save, without seeing this directly.

Barry speaks on a passage where the ministries of Jesus and John the Baptist are contrasted, and discusses three aspects of ministry.  He says that the responsibility of ministry is to continue to preach the same message of repentance and baptism from Jesus, John and scripture. To carry out ministry is a joy and a privilege, but he warns that the temptation is to become possessive of our ministries and jealous of others.

Chris Gray studies how some of the disciples respond when they are confronted by the Messiah entering their lives: a pattern emerges - the disciples not only follow Jesus, but witness about Him to their friends and family as well. Jon studies John the Baptist's testimony to the pharisees of the coming of the Christ and points out that almost everything that we believe is based on testimony of some sort. He discusses how God has engineered many layers of testimony so that we can believe: The old testament testifies to John the Baptist, who points to Jesus, who is the way to the Father and testifying to all of this is scripture, church, experience, history and Christians.
